On the morning of March 18, our Habitat for Humanity was given the outstanding opportunity to work with Metro Diner. Working alongside the Coral Springs Art Festival, Metro Diner hosted its soft opening. The restaurant’s soft opening is when they have a selected list of attendants come to their new location. They are told to order any food items they desire off the menu. With the money they save from being served free food, they are asked to donate that amount instead to a charity. At this location, Weston’s HFH chapter was granted this charity position. At the end of the first shift we had collected $1,823 and by the end of the second shift we had over $3000. This was by far our most successful fundraiser yet! The officers and members who attended were touched by getting to meet the donors and listen to the unique stories of each customer. This fundraiser was a big step for our chapter as it continued to branch further into our community.
