This past Valentine's Day a tragedy occurred that has since changed the world. In Parkland, Florida a school shooter robbed the lives of 17 students and teachers at Majory Stoneman Douglas High School. This has had an especially significant impact on our Habitat Chapter at Cypress Bay since the shooting was so close to home. Although tragic, the shooting has brought together the school in ways never thought imaginable. We are especially proud of the way our club has been involved with the #NeverAgain movement.

In efforts to honor and remember the students of Stoneman Douglas, our chapter ordered "Habitat Stands with Douglas" bracelets for all our members. These were passed out at one of our general meetings at the one month anniversary of the shooting. Our members loved them and can be seen wearing them around the school.

Our club has also been very involved in producing videos of our school protests and walkouts to spread awareness and to keep the movement alive. The videos can be found on our social media accounts.

Some of our very own Habitat officers have traveled to Washington DC to advocate for this amazing movement. We will continue to stand by and support Douglas in anyway we can. May we never forget the 17 lives that were taken from us that day.
