As the 2017-2018 school year came to a close, our chapter decided to honor all the hard-work our officers put into this club at our first annual Habitat for Humanity of CBHS officer banquet. We decided to have our banquet at MatchBox at the Sawgrass Mills Mall.
Our banquet began promptly at 6:30pm. After a warm welcome and short speech from our Advisor Mrs.Arnold was complete, a lovely appetizer of salad was served to all of our guests.
After our guests conversed and finished the appetizers, the waiters/waitresses came around and served the main course. MatchBox is known as a "vintage pizza bistro" so our main course consisted of different styles of delicious pizza. Our banquet also consisted of speeches from various important contributors to our club and paper plate awards. Some memorable paper plate awards were: 'Most likely to become Instagram famous' for our wonderful officer Ashley Polsenberg due to her awesome selfie game and 'Started from the bottom now we're here' for Juan Salazar who is one of Habitat's co-founders.
We also honored a few outstanding members who went out of their way to go to almost every event and put in a little bit of extra work. These members were Valentina Mosquera, Annique Zephirin, and Natalie Barajas.
However, the most memorable moment of the night was when a special documentary was played to honor one of our officers that is graduating this year. This officer is Mitch Hunsucker. Throughout his time with Habitat, he showed his fellow officers and members nothing but kindness and always lead every event with love.
After a few tears and some Habitat cake, the banquet came to an end, but not before Matthew got to play the Habitat song for everyone. Overall, the banquet was a huge success and showed just how much of a family our officer team is.
